Rituals

The rituals that I have experienced at Chichen-Itza are given by a shaman, he is a healing doctor that asks for your permission to do the ceremony. The healing that we were introduced to was a open healing to those in a group. The man spoke in the native languageand ti took place in the Mayan city, in Chichen-Itza, where there was smoke, herbs, scents, and items for us to hold. Each Item represented your new beginning, for me and my spouse we had the fertility statue, and ours begun black, but turned gold, it meant new beginnings, closing cycles, life, abundance and more. For me that experience meant a lot I had lost my grandmother recently and I never got the chance to grieve.

Healing Ritual

This type of ritual you see in the photo is a personal one on one ritual to the person seeking health and guidance from a shaman. The statue in white is the doll or statue meaning health, the cantaro next made of "baro" is the guidance statue. The shaman is always dressed in white for these ceremonies, as a signifies purity and clarity for the shaman.

Cenote

Cenote's are known for their beauty but many do not understand the history behind the cenote. The Mayan's in ancient time used the cenotes to pay tribute to their God names Chac.

The Mayan Death Rituals

This is the mayan celebration, the man in the photo is doing the dance of help, calling upon the gods as a sacrifice will occur to pay tribute. This is done after the game is played, a ball game, which the group that won the game were the individuals who were the strongest and had the pleasure of being the sacrifice for the greater good of their family and civilization as we know it.

Spiritual Ritual

Mayan's did numerous rituals this one is a spiritual one. This is one where the Mayan's will then go to the steam baths after the cleansing its a way for treating physical and spiritual diseases. However, the Mayan's are not the only ones that practice this method, but they are the most sought out in this region of the world.

God of Rain Ritual

Chac is the god of rain which Mayans believed nourished the fields and sustained life, but only with a human ritual offering such as a sacrifice.

The Underworld

Mayan's believed that once the sacrifice and tribute was paid the person whom sacrificed their life was taken to the underworld, however many bones have been found underneath the waters of those people whom have been sacrificed.
